WHO AM I?

My name is Harriet Joao. I have been travelling all my life and in the travel industry for four years mostly specialising in Madagascar. Due to the high demand from my clients, I am now branching out into the rest of Africa.

CONSERVATION AND PRESERVATION FOR OUR GRANDCHILDREN.

I am passionate about conserving all species endemic to Africa and to this end I will feature, and welcome, contributions relating to this vital aspect of survival of all things African under the blog title “Before it’s too late”.

Many of our precious plants (rosewood, ebony etc) and animals (rhinos, turtles, lemurs etc) are so close to extinction and it is likely our grandchildren will never have the pleasure of watching a Black Rhino grazing gently in the bushveld.
Many people have an opinion on conservation but very few come up with really good ideas to how to curb the destruction. We would like to start a brainstorming area where your ideas (good or not) can be aired and perhaps used to build on. Maybe you and Africa, by Africans can make a difference with just one idea that might be acted upon.

WHAT MAKES THIS SITE DIFFERENT?

Our site does not offer the boring, mundane information about places such as the population of the country – our site is more exciting!
We aim to add quirky facts, African proverbs, real -life experiences and well researched, good value and unusual travel packages.
However, under each country’s main page there will be a link where you find all of the boring, but important, information.

PRICING THE AFRICAN WAY:

To add to the fun we have explained the cost of each package a little differently too!

In Africa, wealth is measured not by money but by livestock. A cow is worth more than a sheep which is worth more than a goat which is worth more than a chicken…….and so each package tells you at the beginning just how many cows, sheep or chickens you will need to pay for it! The real boring price is at the bottom of the package. My African prices are not based on the actual cost but the price in relation to the time on holiday.
